I’ve been enjoying a new feed from John Hogan that discusses the ever expanding realm of science. His latest post tackles a recent NY Times article that yet again, tries to tie behaviors such as alcoholism to specific genes. I think he does a pretty good job dissecting this starry-eyed sensationalism and his concluding sentence is perfect.

A friend pointed me to this video of an incredible bird called the Lyrebird of Australia which can mimic just about anything heard in the forest, including chainsaws.
Also in the news today was the announcement of the world’s oldest known bird. The fossil includes a complete skeleton with some feathers and webbed feet.
I’ve mentioned the old ’70s super zooming video called “Powers of Ten” before. Here is an innovative facisimile with the help of monsieur Simpson. Via A Counting School.
