Apropos my previous post on starry-eyed doomsayers, the vatos at LibertyGuys put together some gem quotes from everyones favorite social engineers.
Just a point of disclosure, I was just handed a coupon which was underwritten by the NY Times and is good for one (1) dip-cone at any Manhattan kiosk.
While I remain agnostic in the debate over climate change (see here), I thought Warren Meyer’s post on Al Gore’s movie was well-written and germane.
And if you want a good laugh, South Park had a kosher episode on the matter: Two Days Before the Day After Tomorrow
Obligatory YouTube clip from the episode.
The sad part is, I know people that really think this way. And what happens when they’re wrong? They just make up another date. That’s what guys like Hal Lindsay are always doing.
I even recall one girl I went to school with who literally “prayed” that the Euro would be devalued so her missionary friends in Europe could continue spending their Dollars without fearing a decline in purchasing power. Why stop at prayer when you can convince a central bank to artificially peg exchange rates?
I can’t stop the bug:
- New Friend Request – song from Gym Class Heroes about getting friended on MySpace, it is surprisingly of high-quality, somewhat funny, and fairly accurate.
- Mr. Roboto – from the ’80s band Styx. The video stinks horribly.
And if you really want to kill time, search for “Mystery Science Theater 3000” and look up some of the quality lampoons on classics like “The Deadly Bees.” Note: the former host for the show has a new project called RiffTrax which does pretty much the same thing, sans anthropomorphized robots.
