In the most recent edition of Fortune magazine, a seemingly interesting geek piece somehow managed to find itself within its pages: The PayPal mafia.
It’s an in-depth overview and history of where the key players in PayPal’s birth and rise have all matriculated to. The gist of it is, if it is a hot web service, they probably helped fund it (like YouTube and Facebook).
Their lifestyles and personal philosophies are reminiscent to some of the key players of both Apple and Google, especially the innovative managerial style in pursuit of having a flat organization.
And while I was aware that Peter Thiel was a fan of all things “singulitarian,” based on a couple of quotes, it turns out he “thinks about it all the time.” Not too unlike Sergey Brin of Google.
